Baillie Gifford are a leading edge Scottish based investment fund business with a current focus upon smartphones, cloud computing, electric vehicles and biotechnology. They are the current (2024) UK’s only large scale asset investment manager that’s an independent, unlimited liability, private partnership. But oddly enough these are not the reasons I take such an interest in them. They interest me because they run UK Book Festivals and by default give support to some of the best book authors. But they also give their support to both illustrators and photographers. So they cover many of the subjects that interest me. In 2023 I attended the Stratford upon Avon Book Festival and enjoyed the Michael Wooldridge lecture on AI. Not surprisingly I ended up buying his book "The Road to Conscious Machines.
