Baillie Gifford are a leading edge Scottish based investment fund business with a current focus upon smartphones, cloud computing, electric vehicles and biotechnology. They are the current (2024) UK’s only large scale asset investment manager that’s an independent, unlimited liability, private partnership.

But oddly enough these are not the reasons I take such an interest in them. They interest me because they run UK Book Festivals and by default give support to some of the best book authors. But they also give their support to both illustrators and photographers. So they cover many of the subjects that interest me. In 2023 I attended the Stratford upon Avon Book Festival and enjoyed the Michael Wooldridge lecture on AI. Not surprisingly I ended up buying his book "The Road to Conscious  Machines. The Story of AI.". Michael is a Professor and Head of Computer Science at Oxford University.

Look at the PDF on Google Docs about their writers and a couple of their articles on Modena and CRISPR  Therapeutics taken from Trust Magazine for Spring 2023. Modena is focussed upon the use of mRNA alongside the use of CRISPA for the editing process. Their competitor Pfizer with their links to BioNTech are in the same area of covering the mRNA development of vaccines.

Firgun Ventures closed its first investment round at $70 million (£53 million) this weekend, with the biggest stake taken by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA).   Bending Spoons acquires Eventbrite in $500m deal Max Head Technology investor Bending Spoons has added Eventbrite to its portfolio in a $500 million cash deal, sending shares in the US-listed ticket seller up by more than 80 per cent.
